My Prayer Today

Lord teach us to find and establish fulfilment in your word and promises, teach us Lord that your word is true and it will forever stand the test of time.  In a world constantly filled with destruction your word brings strength and clarity. Help us to know that your word is tangible and it is true, a daily evidence of your presence in our human experiences.

This prayer is not just words it reflects the reality I have seen in my own life. At 28 years of age, I stand unashamed of the gospel, saved by grace and basking in God’s faithfulness. After a long battle of trying to discover who I am, I attained the greatest revelation:  whose I am.

A young woman journeying through faith, discovered both “who she is” and “whose she is”. My true identity only became clear when I deeply pursued the One to whom I belong. When you know whose you are, the standard for your life rises and so does your purpose.

On 7 December 2025, I made a public declaration of my faith through baptism, the sign and seal of my commitment to Christ. Today I stand in awe of God’s faithfulness over my life, I am a living testament of His glory and promises.  

Its often easy to trust in a human’s promise when someone says, “I will always be with you and I will never leave you”, because those promises feel tangible and attainable, but to trust in God’s promises in a world that often challenges our faith and belief can be very hard. Yet the constant theme in His word, is that He will never leave us nor forsake us.

God never promised us a life free of suffering, but He promised us that, in the fire, He will never leave us nor forsake us. He never said following Him would be easy, but in every trial His presence remains. Ours is to be still and know that He is Lord. I have seen God many times in my life both when I was on the fence with my faith and now, when I decided to put away the old life and take up the cross and follow Christ.

My Journey

Mine was a journey of hearing about God’s mercy but not knowing Him personally. In December 2024, whilst navigating a season of emptiness I made a promise: I wanted to know God for myself. I wanted to testify of His goodness.

So I started at home, reading my Good News Bible opening the book of John to understand who the Messiah is. In that moment, I created a group chat with two high school friends of mine (Lord bless their souls) and told them: “This is a pursuit for Jesus”.  Little did I know this was the beginning of truly understanding who Christ is and who we are in His body.

I grew up as a disciplined and respectful child, always following my parents instructions and guidance, even in my adult life that inner child still echoes within me, Yet despite my respectfulness, I would be told to go to church and often told about Christ, but I had no understanding of who God was because I didn’t know Him for myself, I didn’t know I could be vulnerable before God and be honest in my prayers and pursuit, I had a superficial understanding of Christ that your prayers must be presented in a certain way but it only took acquainting myself with God’s word that He began to do the good work in my life, I always say, I literally crawled my way back to Christ because I knew He was the well from which life flows. Our God is a consuming fire, you cannot dedicate personal time to knowing Christ and remain the same. When you pursue Him wholeheartedly, you begin to possess the mind of Christ.

Once you obtain this revelation of whose you are, you start to feel like you were blind but now you can see. This is the impact of walking with God, your life finds meaning beyond the surface and everything you do, you do as a representation of Christ; you live to make Him known, seen and glorified in your walk. Your decisions, your relationships and your goals begin to align with His purpose.

You start to evaluate everything through a new lens. When you don’t know your identity in Christ, you often seek validation in places that cannot satisfy who you are. But when you know whose you are, you understand that love flows from God first and only then can you love others in truth and wholeness.

Doing life with Christ is not glamorous, and it’s certainly not easy but it pays in ways the world cannot measure. Walking with Him feels like you were searching for something missing deep inside you, only to discover that He was the missing piece all along.

My name is Khanyisile Maumela, I live to make God known and glorified. My prayer is that my life becomes a reflection of His grace and a testimony that mercy truly rewrites our stories. Christ is the well that never runs dry, He is a consuming fire that transforms every heart that seeks Him and it pays to do life with Christ.
